THERE have been nearly 1,400 new coronavirus cases confirmed across the North-East and North Yorkshire, according to the latest statistics.
Public Health England (PHE) said a further 599 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Monday, bringing the UK total to 89,860.
Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 105,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.
PHE also said a total of 4,062,501 people in the UK have received the first dose of a vaccine.
As of 9am on Monday, there had been a further 37,535 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.
Here is a breakdown by local authority of the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the region: County Durham: 29,878 was 29,670; Darlington: 5,551 was 5,517; Gateshead: 11,274 was 11,201; Hartlepool: 7,087 was 7,052; Middlesbrough: 9,125 was 9,023; Newcastle: 19,813 was 19,691; North Tyneside: 9,556 was 9,505; North Yorkshire: 23,502 was 23,286; Northumberland: 13,712 was 13,601; Redcar and Cleveland: 7,043 was 6,968; South Tyneside: 9.197 was 9,152; Stockton: 11,938 was 11,832; Sunderland: 16,873 was 16,748; York: 10,142 was 10,054. An increase of 1,391.
