AN annual charity appeal has been given an extra boost by a town organisation amid a fall in donations.
The Darlington branch of the Royal British Legion was given a £250 donation by Darlington Rotary Club.
This year's Poppy Appeal, which is the Royal British Legion's biggest annual fundraiser, had a dip in donations this year due to its usual events being affected by Covid-19 restrictions.
Peter Ratcliffe, from the Darlington branch of the legion, thanked the Rotary for its contribution.
He said: "The Royal British Legion, along with many other charities, has seen a substantial decrease in income this last year and we are very grateful to receive this kind gesture from the Rotary Club.
"We are working towards this next Remembrance weekend in November when we expect and hope everything is back to normal."
The cheque was handed over by Nigel Little, president of Darlington Rotary.
