A MAN had to be cut from a vehicle after his car crashed into a lamp post in the central reservation of a busy road near Darlington today.
Police were called to the scene of the collision at about 3.20pm.
It happened on the A167 near Coatham Mundeville and involved a single vehicle, thought to be a Citroen Berlingo.
A spokesman for Durham Police said: "Just before 3.20pm we were called to an accident involving a car which had crashed into a lamp post in the central reservation of the A167 near Coatham Mundeville.
"Officers attended and made the scene safe while attempting to allow traffic to flow freely.
"The driver of a grey vehicle was safely cut free by our colleagues from the fire service."
