THE following cases were among those heard at Teesside Magistrates' Court this week.

AMANDA COLDBECK and PAUL SCRAFTON, of Rushpool Close, Redcar, were both fined £80 after being charged with failing to ensure their child regularly attended school. They were also told to pay costs of £100 and a £30 surcharge for victim services.

RITA SEED, 48, of South Terrace, South Bank, Middlesbrough, was fined £180 after her child failed to regularly attend school. The case was proved in her absence and she will also have to pay costs of £200 and £30 to victim services.

LYNDSAY CORNFORTH, of Dovedale Avenue, Grangetown, was fined £440 after two of her children failed to regularly attend school. The cases were proved in her absence and she will also have to pay costs of £200 and a victim surcharge of £44.

ARHAM ASIF, 20, of Lilac Avenue, Thornaby, was fined £180 after failing to give information relating to the identification of a driver. He was found guilty of the offence and he was given six points on his driving record. He was also told to pay costs of £400 and a victim surcharge of £32. Another offence of speeding, alleged to have taken place in South Tyneside, was withdrawn.

LEON CROSSLING, of Thorndyke Avenue, Middlesbrough, was fined £120 for admitting to driving while above the limit for drugs. The 31-year-old was also disqualified for driving for 12 months and told to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £34. He was found with a quantity of Dela-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol in his system.

LEAH LESLEY JONES, 28, of Roseberry Crescent, Middlesbrough, was banned from driving for 20 months after being caught above the legal limit for alcohol. She pleaded guilty and was fined £120, and told to pay costs of £85 and the £32 victim surcharge.

MICHAEL COLEMAN, of Telford Close, Hartlepool, was fined £220 after dropping a cigarette. Coleman, 40, will also have to pay costs of £265 and the £32 victim surcharge. He was spotted dropping the cigarette on January 14 in Crofton Road, Stockton.

PETER DAWSON, 48, of Sandport Walk, Portrack, was fined £120 after being caught driving with cocaine, morphine and benzoylecgonine in his system. He pleaded guilty and was banned from driving for 36 months. He has topay costs of £85 and the £32 victim surcharge.

WAQAR HUSSAIN, 26, of Dorris Road, Birmingham, was given a six-month conditional discharge after being found with a quantity of cannabis in his possession. He pleaded guilty and was told to pay costs of £85 and a £15 victim surcharge. The cannabis was forfeited for destruction.

JAMES ANTHONY STACKHOUSE, 52, of High Street, Yarm, was given a community order after pleading guilty to driving while above the legal limit for alcohol. He will have to comply with an eight-week curfew and will have to do 10 days of rehabilitation activities. He was also told to pay £85 in costs and £90 to victim services and banned from driving for 26 months.

WAYNE MURPHY, 41, of Kings Road, North Ormesby, was told to pay £100 in compensation after assaulting a police officer. It happened on June 20 in Stainton Street, Middlesbrough. He pleaded guilty and was also fined £200, given £85 in costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

SAMANTHA JANE SKIPPER, of The Green, Billingham, will have to pay £100 in compensation after assaulting a police officer. The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence, which happened on June 21 in Billingham. She was fined £200, given £85 in costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

COURTNEY FLETCHER, of Maria Street, North Ormesby, was fined £120 after admitting to racially abusing another person on June 13 in Middlesbrough. The 21-year-old was also told to pay costs of £40 and the £34 victim surcharge.

KERRY LOUISE JESSOP, 39, of Park Road North Hostel, Middlesbrough, was given a community order after pleading guilty to two charges of harassing, alarming or distressing someone in breach of an injunction. She will have to carry out 20 days of probation activity.

DAVID GLYN JONES, of Princes Square, Thornaby, pleaded guilty to stealing a £199 Dyson vacuum cleaner from Currys PC World. The 41-year-old also admitted three charges of fraud after purchasing items and re-entering the store, taking goods and claiming he had already paid for them. The frauds involved a £126 hose reel, £550 hot tub and £399 worth of laminate flooring. He was given a community order and told to pay total compensation of £1,075.

MARK GENERY, of Hartington Road, Stockton, was jailed for 28 days. Genery, 41, admitted a strong of offences, including the theft of bacon and £364.50 worth of alcohol from a number of shops. He also admitted assaulting a man on February 10 in Stockton. He was told to pay £377.50 in compensation.
