A FIRST look trailer of a movie about the life of a North-East football fan who is disabled has been released.
The tear-jerking trailer of Give Them Wings, an upcoming film about the struggle of Darlington FC fan whose battle with meningitis as a child left him disabled, shows off newcomer and North-East actor Daniel Watson and Toyah Willcox.
After being childhood meningitis at ten-months-old, Paul Hodgson's parents were told he would never move or speak and that would only live to aged five – Mr Hodgson is now in his mid-fifties.
The film dives into his relationship with his father, who in the trailer can be heard saying "I was robbed of the son I should have had", and love for the Quakers.
Director Sean Cronin said: "It's been received really well by the public, the response we have seen online has been amazing. People are loving the trailer."
Mr Cronin has big plans for the film, which is 95 per cent finished, with "the North-East's biggest even drive-in premier" in the works.
There will be a socially distanced red carpet and drivers tune into the film via their car radios.
While a release date has not been set, keen viewers can expect to see a commercial trailer first.
