WE came across this photograph of the Durham County team that met Worcestershire in the Gillette Cup at Ropery Lane, Chester-le-Street on May 4, 1968.

Worcestershire batted first, but were soon in trouble at 18-4 and then 79-7.
They closed on 98 with only two players, Tom Graveney 45 runs and Norman Gifford 15 runs, reaching double figures in 56.2 overs. Basil D’oliveira was caught Cole, bowled Young for 4 runs.
Young returned 12 – 3 – 17 – 4, Barkass-Williamson 10.2 – 2 - 13 – 4. Bailey 10 – 1 – 24 – 2, Biddulph 12 – 5 – 22 – 0.
With the door well and truly open to a record breaking Gillette Cup win, Durham failed by 17 runs, being put out for just 82. Burridge 26 runs, Kennedy 23 runs and Young 12 runs were their top scorers.
