Today, we take a trip down memory lane – literally.
These photographs were sent to us by Jade Peverley, who discovered some pictures of the A1 her great-grandad took between May 1963 and October/November 1964. The photos show the whole process, from field to the opening.
Jade said: “I’ve also found out my great-grandad took his camera with him in the Second World War and there are many photos from all over the world.”
The photos featured here were taken in May 1963.
Email jo.kelly@newsquest. co.uk if you have some photos you would like to share with us.
