GARDENERS at one of the most spectacular allotment sites in the country would usually be throwing open the gates to welcome visitors, but this year have had to make use of technology to show off their green delights.
Tucked away like a hidden oasis, St Margaret’s Allotments on Margery Lane is just a stone’s throw from the centre of Durham City. Due to the social distancing restrictions the gardeners have been unable to open the allotments to the public for their annual fundraising open day, so instead they have organised a virtual open day, so people can “visit” and see what they’ve been up via their website. They have also taken some fabulous photographs, which we have been featuring. To show off your garden, send our pictures to https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/yourgardens
