A CYCLIST has died after being involved in a crash with a white Transit van.
The 58-year-old man died following the collision in Mowbray Road, Hartlepool, which happened at about 6.45am today.
Paramedics attended but the man died at the scene.
The driver of the white Transit van failed to stop, police said.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Specially trained officers are supporting the man’s family and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.
"Police investigating the collision are now appealing for anyone who may have seen a white Transit van with a blue logo in the area of Catcote Road, Fens or Owton Manor between 6am and 7.30am this morning, to contact them."
Any witnesses or anyone with information regarding the incident, or anyone who may have dash cam footage which could assist the investigation, is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting incident number 123.481.
