A GRADUATE has launched a nutrition business to encourage healthy eating.
My Breakfast Box is a healthy subscription service that delivers balanced breakfast options straight to your door.
It is the brainchild of 25-year-old Jodie McGregor, who founded the business after working as a personal trainer for a number of years and seeing just how hard people were finding it to eat a balanced breakfast that was also quick to prepare.
After studying a degree in Nutrition at Teesside University, who were instrumental in helping Jodie get her business going, she now runs the business from a base in Bedale.
Her first project was a selling low sugar granola to various farm shops around the country which has been running for the last year.
Jodie then decided to move online with the business so that it would allow the company to reach more people and bring a larger range of products to their customers. During this process the university helped Jodie by providing a space for her in their incubation building on campus and also provided lots of business advice in these early stages.
My Breakfast Box was launched in early April, which ended up coincided with the lockdown and the coronavirus pandemic, but Jodie remained determined to make a go of her business despite the challenges.
“We decided to push on with the launch as people were looking to order their food online and we thought it should still go ahead,” she said.
“We have created a huge range products including various flavours of porridge, low sugar granola, muesli, protein bowls and breakfast bars. We are constantly working on new products however, so that our customers can expect exciting additions to the range all the time.
“Currently there are 20 products to choose from and recently added a Blackcurrant Porridge blend, which works really well as overnight oats too.
“We also have a tasting club which allows members to sample our new products before we launch them. It’s totally free and is our way of getting feedback on the new products so we can make them as delicious as possible.”
A key aspect of My Breakfast Box is to be as environmentally friendly as possible. This means that all packaging being home compostable and plastic free.
“We want to help people all over the country eat a better breakfast,” said Jodie. “There should never be a sacrifice on flavour and quality when it comes to fuelling your body and our products show just how fun healthy eating can be.”
