Best Western Grand Hotel in Hartlepool has gone into administration.
On the hotel's Facebook page the ex-general manager said:
"Dear valued patrons, I am receiving a number of calls today regarding the status of the hotel.
"It is with regret that I must confirm the hotel is now in administration with all employees (including myself) made redundant yesterday.
"I am sure that someone will be in touch in the coming days with regards to weddings and events that have been booked, but unfortunately it is out of our hands at this point so calling the hotel directs to my mobile, and I am afraid I am unable to tell you anything more.
"Best wishes... we will miss you!"

Another person commented saying: "My heart really does go out to those who's job has been lost, I wish everyone the best I really do as they have been fab.
"We have our wedding booked for the Grand in September and really hope we get to hear back from the administrations soon. I would have preferred to not find out on Facebook.
"But after a cry winge and moan just remember we are here and we will all get through 2020 together."
