THE fast food chain McDonald's has released an update on when the rest of the UKs drive-thrus will reopen during lockdown.
McDonald's came under fire after it appeared to only reopen just a handful of its stores for drive-thru and delivery in London and the South-East.
Athough rivals including KFC reopened a limited number of stores in the North-East, McDonald's remained quiet over when they would reopen here.
But the boss of McDonald's has revealed when all drive-thru restaurants will reopen - and it is sooner than you think.
Paul Pomroy, Chief Executive Officer of McDonald's UK said that following the staggered reopening of stores, all drive-thrus would reopen by early June.
He said: "There has been an incredible response to news of our reopening and we know many of you are eager for us to extend our reopening plans at a faster pace.
"The wellbeing of our employees, suppliers and delivery partners’ couriers is my top priority and we will only extend our plans at a pace that enables us to create a safe working environment for our teams.
"Moving in step with government guidelines, we plan to reopen all our Drive-Thrus by early June."
This week, Starbucks, KFC, Burger King and Subway reopened a number of stores in our region with large queues forming at drive-thru sites.
