BISHOP'S APPEAL: The plate which bears the inscription Kerwood Plate TVSS and is owned by an African Bishop
A SOUTH African bishop is appealing for information about a mysterious plate bearing an engraving of Durham Cathedral.
Merwyn Castle, the Bishop of False Bay, in Cape Town, has come into possession of the silver plate, but has no idea of its history.
The ten-inch plate is inscribed The Kerwood Plate TVSS and has a list of names on the back, with dates from 1985 to 1991.
It is signed by John Bungay.
