NORTHERN Guild, which provide counselling and psychotherapy for children, young people and adults are offering free counselling to NHS staff.

The organisation, which is based in Thornaby and Jesmond have put together free online video and telephone counselling services for all NHS staff in the UK as a thank you to the work carers have been doing during the coronavirus crisis.

Staff from Northern Guild are currently working remotely.

Phil Smith, UKCP Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist and Northern Guild Supervisor and Tutor, said: "People from the ambulance service, admin, HR and other staff can apply through the website."

Six sessions from trained counsellors are being offered, which will aim to help manage stress, anxiety, low mood and depression.

Phil said: "We're really aware that there's a lot of strain on the NHS with the current pandemic."

Northern Guild was established in 1983 in Teesside, and offer accredited professional, training in counselling and psychotherapy.

People can phone or they can have the sessions over encrypted videos, such as Zoom.
