AS the coronavirus outbreak continues to worsen, here’s the overnight situation:

• The UK's coronavirus death toll has risen to 104, as it was confirmed 32 more people had died in England.

NHS England said the patients were aged between 59 and 94 and all had underlying health conditions.

• There have been a total of 2,626 positive tests for coronavirus in the UK • In the North-East and North Yorkshire, Public Health England said the following cases have been confirmed: North Yorkshire 11, York 4, Newcastle 13, Stockton 6, Darlington 2, North Tyneside 7, Redcar and Cleveland 1, County Durham 3, Sunderland 3, Gateshead 1 and Hartlepool 1.

• Boris Johnson has said schools across England will be closed indefinitely, except for the children of key workers.

• All examinations, including GSCEs and A-levels will be cancelled, with teachers making assessments on students’ ability.

Durham Miners’ Gala will not go ahead this year.

• Major attractions such as Beamish Museum are to close to visitors.

• Tesco introducing a restriction of only three items per customer on every product line to curb panic buying.

• The number of cases across the world reached 207,518, while it has been confirmed that at least 8,248 people have died as a result of the pandemic.

• The Archbishop of Canterbury has likened the coronavirus pandemic to a nuclear explosion, the fallout of which will last for years and shape the nation's future in unforeseeable ways.

• Oxfam has announced it will close all of its high street shops until the worst of the coronavirus pandemic has passed in a bid to protect its staff and customers.

• Ryanair has announced it may suspend all flights except those providing "essential connectivity", due to the coronavirus.

• Belgium became the latest to go into lockdown. People have been asked to stay at home and limit contact with relatives.

• London is ahead of other parts of the country in terms of the spread of coronavirus.

• Boris Johnson has said there could be a lockdown in the capital similar to those used in other European cities. He said he was prepared to take “further and faster measures” to tackle the disease.
