A TRIAL due to start at a North-East court today has been put back for six weeks as the chief witness is said to be in home quarantine.
The Crown applied to have the case of a man accused of knife threats and common assault vacated from today’s list at Durham Crown Court, as the witness is said to have a family member suffering suspected coronavirus and is on home lockdown, himself.
Defence counsel in the case applied for it to go ahead, anyway, as the defendant is anxious for it to proceed, but Judge James Adkin granted the prosecution application and all parties agreed on a new trial date, starting in the week of April 30. The defendant’s bail was extended.
