A JUDGE has called for reports to assess the future risk posed by a man who has admitted inciting a 15-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity.

It follows Philip John Oliver’s admissions to a string of charges arising out of inquiries into his online activities after the inciting offence came to light.

Appearing at Durham Crown Court, the 40-year-old former IT specialist pleaded guilty to causing or inciting a child aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity.

He also admitted three counts of making an indecent image of a child, one each of possessing a prohibited image of a child and possessing extreme pornography, and one of distributing an indecent photo of a child.

His counsel David Lamb told Judge James Adkin: “You may wish to know more about this offender as to the danger he poses.”

Judge Adkin agreed, saying: “There appears to be more deeply engrained issues in this case, necessitating more fuller analysis by the Probation Service.”

He adjourned for both probation and psychiatric reports and bailed Oliver, of Prince Charles Avenue, Bowburn, to return for sentence on April 3.
