A COMMUNITY hub for people with learning disabilities has been destroyed in an arson attack in Middlesbrough.

The facility in Park End was damaged in the attack in the early hours of Thursday, March 5.

It happened at about 1.30am and the wooden sun room at Sandringham House, in Overdale Road, was destroyed.

Police say people who used the facility have been devastated by the loss.

Officers are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Sergeant Paul Hodgson said: “Local people who use this facility on a regular basis have been left devastated after their community hub was destroyed in a mindless act of damage.

“If anyone has any information regarding this incident or any CCTV footage or dash cam footage which could assist the investigation then please get in touch.”

Sandringham House provides services for people with autism.

The wooden sun room was added to the facilty last year after community fundraising.

Councillor Dorothy Davison, Middlesbrough Council’s executive member for Adult Social Care and Public Health, said: “This incident has left everyone at Sandringham House, staff and service users, incredibly upset.
