AN Audi driver, who was parked in Tesco, has been reported to court after police discovered a number of safety-related offences.
Police stopped an Audi S3 in Catterick in North Yorkshire where they discovered illegal tyres, a smashed windscreen and no insurance.
Pictures posted by North Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Group appeared to show one tyre, almost 'bald,' despite the legal minimum tyre tread depth being 1.6mm.
Meanwhile another tyre from the vehicle was pictured well below the legal minimum.
The force said the Audi was removed from the road until it was made legal and fully-insured by the suspect driver.
Under current law, driving with an unroadworthy tyre carried a fine of up to £2,500 as well as three penalty points per tyre.
The RAC recommends that those unsure of their legal tyre tread depth should use a 20p piece to check their tread once a month.
The simple check should not allow you to see the outer band of the coin face as they could be nearing the legal limit.
