A DRUNKEN brawl at a holiday caravan park left one man with a fractured jaw and two people facing court.

The fight broke out in the arcades at Crimdon Dene Holiday Park in April last year following a row over an alleged affair.

Anthony Watt, 32, and Joyce Anderson, 33, were caught on CCTV attacking the man while a third, as yet unidentified man, was causing the most serious injury.

Teesside Crown Court heard security from the holiday park quickly intervened and police were soon on the scene to arrest Anderson and Watt.

Rachel Master, prosecuting, said: “The defendant ran towards the victim and punched him which caused him to fall to the floor and that was when Anderson became involved also.”

The court heard how Watt had ten previous convictions for 13 offences, including actual bodily harm and affray.

The couple had originally been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent but the Crown Prosecution Service accepted their guilty pleas to the lesser charge of affray.

Stephen Constantine, representing Watt, said his client hadn't been involved in a similar incident for almost ten years.

While Laurie Scott, representing Anderson, said she clearly struck the man but was not responsible for the fractured jaw.

Judge Stephen Ashurst gave the pair, of Viola Street, Hartlepool, a 12 month community order warning them they would have been jailed for the more serious charge.
