CCTV footage which appears to show two men involved in a fight which saw a shop window smashed has been shared more than 20,000 times.
The window of Skinnergate News, in Darlington, was smashed during the incident on Saturday night.
It was reported to police, who are investigating the incident, at about 8.43pm.
Owners Malcolm and Sharon Dobson, who have been running the newsagents for about 15 years, thanked members of the public who shared the CCTV.
Mr Dobson said: "20,000 people have seen it on Facebook and we've been getting really good comments from people. Everyone is angry about it.
"We had to close for a fire a year ago and we could have turned around and walked away after that so it's disappointing.
"I think it was just a fight that got out of control. The two lads legged it so we're waiting to see more CCTV."
Mrs Dobson added: "It's not malicious, it's antisocial behaviour."
Durham Police are investigating the incident.
A spokeswoman said: "Officers are investigating after a window was smashed at Skinnergate News, in Darlington, on Saturday evening.
"The incident was reported to police at 8.43pm. Anyone with any information should call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 446 of February 8."
