AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a man died at a recycling plant after suffering 'serious injuries'.
Emergency services including the Great North Air Ambulance were called to Ward Recycling on Windermere Road just after 8.30am this morning.
Police confirmed later that afternoon that a 35-year-old man had died at the site.
A joint investigation will take place to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
A spokesman for Cleveland Police said: Police received a report of an incident at Ward Recycling on Windermere Road, Hartlepool, just after 8:30am today.
"Sadly, a 35-year-old man suffered serious injuries and he died at the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of the incident and a joint investigation will take place with the Health and Safety Executive.
"Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time."
