THE following cases were among those heard at Newton Aycliffe and Peterlee Magistrates’ Court during the last week.
MICHELLE LOUISE TEASDALE, 37, of Hammond Drive, Darlington, was in the dock after she smashed two windows without lawful excuse. She was discharged conditionally for 12 months and ordered to pay £100 compensation. Teasdale also failed without reasonable cause to surrender to custody at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court, having been released on bail on January 16.
KELLY REDFERN, of Northbridge Park, Bishop Auckland, was discharged for four months after she used a colour television receiver without a licence. The 25-year-old pleaded guilty and was made to pay £80 compensation and £20 to fund victim services.
ELIZABETH-ANN FITZGERALD, 33, of Oxford Terrace, Bishop Auckland, was fined £120 after she admitted breaching a community order made by Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court. She was also ordered to pay £60 compensation.
GARY LEE HULL, 30, of Darlington, was fined £40 after he failed to comply with requirements of a community order made by Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on October 31 last year. The Cartmell Terrace resident admitted breaching the curfew requirement and was also made to pay £60 compensation.
SIMON MARCUS FREEMAN, 30, of Prince Charles Avenue, Bowburn, was given a four week concurrent prison sentence after he stole various meats, coffee and chocolate, to the value of £134.40 from the Co-Op. He was also in the dock following an incident in Esh Winning on the same day when he resisted a constable in the execution of his duty and was ordered to pay £100 compensation.
SEAN HORNER, of Sherborne Close, Darlington, was handed a restraining order after he assaulted a man by beating him. The order said Horner must not contact the victim directly or indirectly. The 46-year-old was fined £300, ordered to pay £30 to fund victim services and £150 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
DARREN KELLEY, 34, of Evenwood Road, Esh Winning, was fined £120 and disqualified from driving for 19 months after he was caught behind the wheel whilst over the legal drink-drive limit. Kelley was also made to pay £100 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
ROY RICHARDSON, 49, of West View, Crook, was given six penalty driving points and fined £320 after he pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and driving a vehicle not in accordance with the class of driving license. He was also ordered to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
JONPAUL COATES, of Stanley Terrace, Thornley, was fined £225 and ordered to pay £200 compensation after he pleaded guilty to damaging shutters to the value of £200 and a Toyota Yaris. The 35-year-old pleaded guilty and was also made to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
LIAM WILKINSON, 19, of Eastbourne Road, Darlington, was given a community order after he used threatening, abusive or insulting words of behaviour with intent. He pleaded guilty and was made to pay £90 to fund victim services.
ANDREA BELL, 32, of Coleridge Close, Sunnybrow, was in the dock after she drove without insurance. Bell was fined £120 and ordered to pay £200 to the Crown Prosecution Service. She also made to pay £32 to fund victim services.
JOANNE BEWICK, 49, of Butler Road, Newton Aycliffe, was fined £180 after she assaulted a police officer acting in the exercise of her functions. She indicated a plea of guilt and was ordered to pay £32 to fund victim services and £250 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
DAVID FISHER, of Goodyear Crescent, Durham, was given six penalty driving points and fined £125 after he was caught behind the wheel driving without due care and attention. The 60-year-old pleaded guilty and was also made to pay £32 to fund victim services and £150 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
CHRISTINE NICOLA STENNAR, 45, of South Shields, was banned from driving for 40 months and given a community order after she was caught driving whilst over the legal drink-drive limit. The John Williamson Street resident pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay £90 to fund victim services and made to pay £150 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
GLENN WHITE, 34, of Easington Lane, Houghton le Spring, was given six penalty driving points after he was caught driving and using a hand-held mobile phone. He pleaded not guilty but was convicted by the court and fined £100. White was also made to pay £32 to fund victim services and £200 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
DEAN BLENKINSOPP, 30, of High Street, Ferryhill, was given a four week consecutive prison sentence after he breached a restraining order on three occasions.
MATTHEW CARLYON, 37, of Shield Row, Stanley, was fined £80 after he failed without reasonable excuse to comply with supervision requirements made following release from prison. He was also made to pay £60 compensation.
KELLY ANNE HOWEY, 44, of Fifth Street, Blackhall Colliery, was in the dock after she stole a handbag, a purse, and contents including a child’s Sunderland Football Strip in Easington. The defendant was given a community order which requires her to undergo alcohol treatment and a fine. Howey was also made to pay £100 compensation.
BRETT BURNISTON, 33, of Clifton Road, Darlington, was given six penalty driving points after he was caught driving without a policy of insurance in place. Burniston was also fined £147 and ordered to pay £32 to fund victim services.
ADAM LATCHAM, 25, of Henson Close, Chilton, was given three penalty driving points after he exceed the speed limit on a 30mph road. He pleaded guilty and was also fined £120 and made to pay £30 to fund victim services.
JOSH BEN ERAN CHARLES, of Marina Road, Darlington, was given a suspended prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to resisting a police officer in the execution of his duty. The 27-year-old was also made to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service. He was also in the dock for assaulting a woman by beating her on two occasions and sending a message on two occasions that was grossly offensive or indecent, obscene or of menacing character.
DANIEL DILLON, 33, of Birtley, was fined £123 after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating her and destroyed her iPhone without lawful excuse with intent to destroy or damage. The Willow Rise resident was also made to pay £32 to fund victim services and pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
CHANTELLE WARLOW, 25, of Browney Lane, Durham, was given a seven day concurrent prison sentence after she failed without reasonable excuse to comply with the supervision requirements imposed following release for a period of imprisonment.
MATTHEW JAMES STOTHARD, 37, of Larchwood, Washington, was given a community order after he was found in possession of a weapon designed or adapted for the discharge of an electrical incapacitation device. Stothhard was also fined £40 and ordered to pay £90 to fund victim services.
CHRISTIAN JONES, of Burnet Close, Stockton-on-Tees, failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle which was alleged to have been involved in an offence. He pleaded guilty and was given six penalty driving points and fined £100. The 43-year-old was also ordered to pay £30 to fund victim services.
