SCAMMERS are sending letters to potential victims telling them they have won hundreds of thousands of pounds from an online lottery connected to a football game.
Durham police issued a warning about the hoax following reports thatresidents had received a letter claiming to be from International Fifa World Cup Online Lottery.
It stated that people had won £825,000 and asked claimants to contact 02033-183678 or 07780-653716.
"Please do not contact the number or disclose any personal details," said a police spokesperson.
