MIDDLESBROUGH Mayor Andy Preston and Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen have announced a £250m investment in Middlesbrough to make it “the digital city in the UK”
Investment will see a £45m development of three 20-storey towers, for apartment and office blocks, and a digital campus which features a 750-seat indoor amphitheatre, a 400-seat outdoor theatre, and spaces to host lectures, cultural events, social conventions and entertainment.
Andy Preston said the new investment will “transform Teesside’s skyline forever” and will lead to 1,000 new jobs in the digital and creative industries.
He said: “This investment is part of a £250m project to establish Middlesbrough as the UK’s digital city.
“We want this development to be the centre of human activity.
“We want our existing digital businesses to grow, regional businesses to realise this is the place to be, and national and international businesses to be attracted here."
