A TRADITIONAL agricultural show in County Durham has attracted farmers from across the region.
Langdon Beck Show, in Upper Teesdale, which specialises in sheep, but includes produce, was held on Saturday.
The event was staged in the grounds of the Langdon Beck Hotel at Forest-in-Teesdale.
The show was relaunched in 2000 and is a firm fixture on the countryside calendar for the farming community.
It has continued every year since its re-launch, except in 2001 when it had to be cancelled due to the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease.
Nicola Foster, who is the secretary for the show, said: “There was a really good strong show of entries both with sheep and produce and cakes.
“We had an excellent show of sheep and we were very, very lucky with the weather.
“There was a strong show of entries from the young handlers in the sheep categories, which is great as the young ones are the future.”
The overall show champion for 2019 was R Hutchinson and Son, from Valley Farm at Bowes.
This year’s reserve champion was SL Pratt, of Dale View, Thornton Rust while judges named the local champion as Michael Watson of Stoney Hill, Harwood. H Allinson came both first and third in the jam contest with P Phillips in second. A Mitchell offered the best gingerbread followed by A Bell and H Allinson.
