A TOWING caravan had to be rescued after becoming stuck in a narrow rail tunnel in Darlington.
Nearby residents came to the aid of the driver after the caravan became wedged in the tunnel on Parkside, which runs under the East Coast Mainline.
Helpers worked to pull the caravan out the tunnel, which becomes narrower towards the Park Lane side.
After the caravan was freed, the driver thanked those who helped adding they had thought the caravan would fit.
Last year, another driver found themselves in the same situation when a Tesco delivery van became stuck in the tunnel and was rescued by police and Network Rail Engineers.
