A NEW steakhouse is to open at Darlington's DL1 leisure complex.
Tomahawk Steakhouse will move into a unit at the former Feethams site in Darlington town centre.
Bosses say the menu will include a range of fillet, rump, ribeye and sirloin steaks, as well as a range of other options.
The chain already has restaurants in Yarm and Newcastle.
A spokesperson for Tomahawk Steakhouse said: "At Tomahawk the quality of the food is key to a great dining adventure.
"However an important part of the overall experience is the ambiance created through the carefully designed restaurant interiors at each Tomahawk Steakhouse.
"For those who have visited the countryside restaurants you’ll appreciate the quaint but luxurious settings - a place where time flies by without realising. The city and town restaurants are much more upbeat, featuring cowhide seating with a buzzy atmosphere.
"Expect DL1 to have the look and feel of Yarm and Newcastle but with an injection of chic industrial fixtures, stylish copper cage wine cellars and of course the trademark tag team cows outside in the al-fresco terrace area."
It was announced earlier this year that Darlington's Feethams leisure complex would be rebranded to become DL1 following a series of redevelopment work.
As part of the work, the podium level has seen the installation of a pergola structure with a retractable roof and planters, new pop-units have been installed and new artwork has been painted on the side of the building.
Bosses say the work was necessary in order to make a "further connection" with people in Darlington and surrounding areas.
The site opened in 2016 with a multi-screen cinema, Premier Inn hotel and a number of restaurants including Bella Italia, Estabulo, Mangobean and Nando’s.
Although some of the original restaurants at DL1 have closed down, Darlington Borough Council believe the site is crucial to the town.
