YOUNGSTERS are better able to embrace their environmental responsibilities thanks to a donation from a housebuilder.
Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire has donated over £500 to Yarm Preparatory School to help buy a Nexus recycling unit with the aim of encouraging the youngsters to recycle their rubbish.
With the pressing issue of climate change and the impact on the environment now being taught as part of the curriculum, Yarm Preparatory School used the donation to ensure the children had equipment at hand to make an impact of their surroundings.
Headmaster Bill Sawyer said: “Our children are becoming more aware of their own impact on the world they live in.
"Simply putting all their rubbish into a bin is no longer an option, and instead they were a driving force in inspiring us to purchase a proper recycling unit.
“This was made possible by the donation from Taylor Wimpey, and I’d like to take the opportunity to thank them so much for their support and for helping us do our part in making a difference.”
Steven Ball, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, added: “It is fantastic to see the younger generations wishing to invest in their surroundings by recycling their rubbish and we were more than happy to make a donation to make this possible.”
