POOR weather has led to the cancellation of a popular annual fire engine event near Stockton.
The annual Fire Engine and Vintage Vehicle show, which would have been its 38th year, was due to take place at Preston Park, in Eaglescliffe, this weekend.
It is a hugely popular event with families and was due to feature a motorbike display team as well as the largest number of restored fire engines in one place in the North of England.
But a spokesman for Stockton Borough Council said: "Due to poor weather conditions leading to waterlogged ground, this weekend’s Fire Engine and Vintage Vehicle Show at Preston Park (29 and 30 June) has been cancelled.
"Even though better weather is forecast, the site will not dry out in time. We are very sorry for any disappointment."
The event is much-anticipated and normally draws huge crowds.
