A YOUNG boxer ended her season with a unanimous decision to win gold.

Macy Gallone, of Spennymoor Amateur Boxing Academy, enjoyed a victory at the Hull Box Cup last week.

Hard work and dedication in the gym has paid off for the 15-year-old, who has won nine of her 11 bouts this season and was called to join the England Boxing development squad. She won gold as national development champion, at the Esker Box Cup, Penrith Box Cup and two silver medals.

Head coach Robert Ellis said: “Macy is a talented boxer who showed potential from the outset. I would like to thank Davy Brown– junior lead– and all of the other coaches who have put their time in to help Macy get to where she is today.

"We all do what we do for the love of boxing and to help youngsters achieve their dreams, we all have fulltime jobs and Macy is a prime example of why we do it."

Spennymoor’s next boxing show will be at Spennymoor Leisure Centre on November 9.
