A LONG-RUNNING beer festival which ‘touched down’ at a new home last year, is returning to the venue later in the summer.
Durham Beer Festival organisers, from the city and district branch of the real-ale pressure group, Camra, were delighted with the response to the event switch in 2018.
They have confirmed that the venue, Durham City Rugby Club’s Hollow Drift ground clubhouse, off Green Lane, will now also play host to the 39th annual festival, from August 28 to 31.
Last year’s move ended a long stint staged at the traditional festival venue, the Durham Students’ Union building, Dunelm House, in New Elvet, the future of which remains uncertain amid Durham University’s long-term aim to demolish it and redevelop the site.
