AN appeal for dash cam footage has been reissued by police as they continue their efforts to track down the owner of a Japanese Akita dog which attacked a woman.
A victim, who is in her 30s, suffered serious facial injuries and a chest wound as a result of the attack near the park area between Trunk Road and North Ormesby in Middlesbrough, on Tuesday February 26 at 08.45am.
Cleveland Police are still appealing for the two men who were walking the dog at the time of the attack to come forward as they may be able to assist with enquiries.
The men were described as being in their late teens. One of the men had dark hair and was wearing a dark tracksuit and the other man was wearing a light tracksuit.
Both men left with the dog prior to police arrival.
Detective Constable Andy Micklewright said: “Officers are regularly patrolling the area of the attack and are carrying out various enquiries in a bid to trace the dog and the two men.
“If you believe you were in the area, whether walking or in a car with dash cam footage around the time of the attack we would urge you to come forward with information, no matter how insignificant you think it is.
“I would also like to appeal to the male member of the public who assisted the victim and helped her during the attack as he could help us with our enquiries.
“Someone out there knows who this dog belongs to and we will do everything we possibly can to trace it and the owners.”
