A FIRST-time runner has completed the Great North Run to raise £1,000 for a charity which helps people with the disease from which her husband suffers.
Janet Anderson, 49, of Eastfield Lodge Hotel, Leyburn, completed the half-marathon for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
"It was difficult. I could hardly walk the following day, but it was worth it," said Mrs Anderson, who hopes to take part in next year's run with her husband, Keith, in his wheelchair.
Mrs Anderson collects unwanted mobile phones to raise money for the charity. They can be left at the Eastfield Lodge Hotel.
