A SCOUT group has enjoyed its first camp on its new site.
Fifty Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from the Hillside Scout Group spent two days at the new Hillside Rural Activities Park between Borrowby and Knayton, near Thirsk.
The Scouts cooked for themselves on open fires and undertook a two-day 20-mile hike, Cubs learned traditional camp crafts and Beavers tackled first aid tasks, enjoyed tie dying and parachute games.
The event also included a presentation of wood beads to Glenn Hughff, by district commissioner Liz Hall, as he is now fully qualified as a Scout leader.
Hillside Scout Group is one of a number of different organisations to benefit from the park. The 28-acre plot of land will serve as a home for Borrowby Show, Leake Tennis and Cricket Club and Knayton Football Club.
