THOSE who died and were injured in the Battle of Trafalgar were remembered in a special wreath-laying ceremony.
Despite the musicians failing to turn up, the Middlesbrough Trafalgar Day Parade went ahead without a hitch.
Middlesbrough Mayor Ray Mallon was joined by Stockton Mayor Councillor William Noble and a number of councillors for the annual event at the cenotaph on Linthorpe Road on Sunday.
The event was organised by the Royal British Legion and the Middlesbrough Military Commemoration Association (MMCA).
Liz Chambers, who is chairwoman of the MMCA and chairwoman of the Middlesbrough Sea Cadets, said they paraded from the South African war memorial in Albert Park to the cenotaph, and then back again, where the salute was taken.
"It went all right, but the Hartlepool Sea Cadet Band didn't turn up, which was a shame," she said.
"There is always a big Trafalgar Day parade in London on October 21, but because some of the cadets from around here like to go to that, we do our district parade on the first Sunday of October.
"It was a lovely parade."
