A MAN has appeared in court charged with offences relating to what is thought to be Northumbria Police's biggest ever drugs haul.
The force recovered more than 50 kilos of heroin and a further 13 kilos of powder, believed to be amphetamine sulphate, from a house in Birchwood, Cheshire, on Thursday.
Samir Dahou, of Doeford Close in Warrington, was arrested during the seizure of the Class A drugs.
Two handguns with silencers were also found in the search.
He has been charged with conspiracy to supply heroin and possession of a Section Five prohibited weapon.
Mr Dahou was remanded in custody on Saturday morning after appearing before Newcastle magistrates. He will appear before Newcastle Crown Court on October 12.
