Tennis World (TW) 12 & Under girls kept their National title dream alive by winning their final qualifying match against Bolton Arena, Sunday September 23rd.
The win means they will compete at the National Junior Club League Finals, taking place at Bath University 11-14 October 2007.
Their 4th round clash against Bolton Arena was played at the Teesside Club and the girl's won the tie 4-2 with three singles and one doubles win.
The results are as follows, Singles.
Charlotte Derbyshire (TW) beat Sabrina Federici 6-2, 6-3. Farah Abdel-Aziz (TW) beat Phillipa Fulchini 6-2 6-2. Iona Amos (TW) lost to Laurie Clark 3-6 1-6. Alexandra Cornelius (TW) beat Alex Herd 7-5 3-6 (10-6 in match tiebreak for third set).
Doubles.
Derbyshire & Abdel-Aziz (TW) beat Federici & Fulchini 6-2 6-2. Cornelius & Amos (TW) lost to Clark & Herd 3-6 3-6.
Team Captain Pauline Derbyshire expressed her delight at the weekend's result, "How exciting for all of the girls and Tennis World! The girl's rose to the challenge and particularly the pressure of what was at stake! To qualify for the National Final's is tremendous and we are going to make sure we enjoy the weekend in October, which will be a fantastic experience. The dream of winning the National Crown is still very much in Tennis World's sights!"
Tennis World's team consists of five performance players at the club and include, Charlotte Derbyshire (St Michaels School), Farah Abdul-Aziz (Conyers School), Alex Cornelius (Ian Ramsey School), Iona Amos (Teesside High School) and Jessica Williams (Macmillan Academy).
