Stephen Alexander of Potto, North Yorkshire heads to the 12 & Under National Junior Finals (August 21-25) in his quest to become National Champion.
The Yarm Schoolboy has been in fine form recently taking two Junior Titles in as many weeks. The first being the Middlesbrough Open, held at Tennis World (July 28 - August 4), which was followed by success in the Northumberland Junior Open, Newcastle (August 5-11).
The two titles have reaffirmed Stephen's place in the National rankings and he has leapt up to number 10 in the Nation. His current ranking means that he has gained automatic entry into the main draw 12 & Under boy's singles event that is being held at The West Hants Lawn Tennis Club, Bournemouth. The 12 year old will train this week at Tennis World where he is coached by Nigel Garton, who is the Director of Coaching.
Nigel expressed Stephen's recent success, "Stephen has proved that he should be ranked in the Top 10 of his age group. To win big events back-to-back is a great achievement and he has rightly gained direct entry into the main draw next week at the 12 & Under Nationals. His game really suits the clay, which will be the surface they will be competing on so we will wait to see how far he goes!"
