Charlotte Derbyshire of Norton, Stockton brought home the Under 12 Girl's singles title at the 66th West Cheshire Open Junior Tennis Tournament. The event ran from Monday 23rd - July 28th.
The 12 year old who is coached at Tennis World, Middlesbrough by Libby Fletcher took the title in convincing style by not dropping a set. Her results are highlighted below, 2nd Round. Beat Rebecca Davies (North Wales) 6-0 6-0. Semi Final. Beat Amy Khan-Ince (North Wales) 6-2 6-2. Final. Beat Farah Abdel- Aziz (Durham & Cleveland) 6-1 7-5.
The win will help improve her current number 29 ranking in the LTA British 12 & Under list. Her sights are to be in the Top 20 over the coming months and as her coach, Libby Fletcher highlighted, "Charlotte has continued to work on her attacking game and has been practising intensely running up to her summer competition programme. With her sights on being in the Top 20 in the British rankings this win will boost her confidence and help her to achieve her goal. Once she has achieved Top 20 we will then aim to set her goals even higher. We are all really pleased with Charlottes win and look forward to the rest of her competitive play over the coming weeks".
