Alex Dunne (Yarm) and Melissa Lowe (Sedgefield) have won the chance to meet Andy Murray after winning their respective events at David LLoyd Teesside.
The unique and exclusive Road to Andy Murray' competition was open to current David LLoyd Tennis All Star Members. It has been held at all 59 nationwide clubs and the Teesside event took place on Sunday July 22nd. There was a showcase of young talent with some of the best 10 & Under players' at the club competing.
Most of the matches proved to be closely fought between the youngsters. All matches were played first to 15 points (deciding point was played at 15-15). Alex's results were as follows, 1st Round. Beat Richard Barrass 15-3. 2nd Round. Beat Timmy Routh 15-11. Final. Beat Charlie Irvine 15-11.
Melissa defeated fellow David LLoyd member Sophie Allick in a nail-biting final and finally won 16-14. Her results are highlighted below, 1st Round. Beat Laura Hodgson 15-2. 2nd Round. Beat Jessie Hugill 15-3. Final. Beat Sophie Allick. 16-14.
Both players will now travel to London in September to meet the current World Ranked Number 14. The day will include on court activities along with meeting the British tennis star.
