A FORMER professional singer is to give a talk about her debut novel next week.
Author Annabel Dore has written the book The Great North Road, a story set in the North-East, and will read excerpts from the novel and discuss her work during an event at the Clayport Library, in Durham City, at 7.15pm on Friday.
Ms Dore, whose grandfather had a stall in Durham Market, grew up in Gosforth and crossed the Great North Road, from which the book takes its title, to get to school.
She comes from a family of singers and her own career as a vocalist spanned 27 years. She also has a degree in contemporary theatre.
Published by Macmillan New Writing, the book follows the lives of two ordinary women torn apart by a decision that haunts them for life.
The event is free, but places should be reserved by calling Clayport Library on 0191-386- 4003.
