A FOOTBALL club is hoping to stir up some happy memories when it celebrates its centenary next year.
And if all goes according to plan, supporters of Horden Colliery Welfare Football Club will be able to watch their team's major milestones on film.
To mark Horden's 100th birthday next year, long-time follower John Collings is hoping to produce a DVD, as well as compiling a series of written articles on the club.
This week, he appealed to local residents to provide photographs and memorabilia to help piece together the long story of the football club.
Mr Collings, 67, is no newcomer to writing about the club, as he already compiles the match programme, as well as keeping its up to date.
The ardent supporter, who lives in Peterlee, has plenty of statistics at his fingertips but it is the "personal stuff'' he is keenly seeking.
Mr Collings is hoping to produce a string of articles as well as the DVD and would like to include anecdotes from the past.
He is seeking any photographs or press cuttings of past players, along with any remembered stories of bygone games.
He promises any photos or cuttings can be collected, scanned and returned within 24 hours.
Anyone who can provide any information that will help Mr Collings is asked to contact him on 0191-5864819.
