SOMETHING was brewing down at RAF Dishforth yesterday and it was all in the name of charity.
Army helicopter crews and support staff from the base enjoyed cake and a cuppa to raise money for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen's and Families Association (SSAFA).
They tucked into cakes donated by Betty's tearooms, in Harrogate, for their Big Brew Up at the headquarters of 9 Regiment Army Air Corps.
Base employees also held a charity sports day to raise funds.
The week-long SSAFA Big Brew Up campaign saw more than 250 tea parties held by armed forces units in places including Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, the Falklands and the UK.
Money raised will help servicemen and women and their families in times of need and provide welfare and social work services, health care, housing and special family needs.
Last year's Big Brew Up raised £75,000 for the national charity.
