A SCHOOLGIRL has won first place in an art competition with her design for a street-warden themed mug.
A picture by 11-year-old Chelsea Jeffrey has been selected to feature on mugs promoting the work of wardens in the Easington District.
Chelsea's artwork was chosen from hundreds of entries received from pupils in primary schools across east Durham.
Councillor George Patterson, executive member for liveability, said: "The competition was part of our ongoing work to teach youngsters why we have street wardens and what they do."
Chelsea, who was a pupil at Dene House Primary School when she entered the competition, now attends Dene Comprehensive School.
She will receive a £50 shopping voucher for her efforts and her prize will also include an trip for herself and classmates to Hesleden Pond.
The runner-up in the competition was Kieran Toor, a former pupil at Shotton Hall Junior School who will receive a £10 voucher.
