A 12-year-old girl has told police she was raped by a stranger after being taken to a secluded area.
The girl is believed to have been approached by the man as she walked along Durham Road, opposite the Mile House pub, in Stockton.
The incident is reported to have happened between 5.30pm and 7.45pm on November 15, 2018.
The man – who is not known to the girl – was first approached at the traffic lights, before being followed along Darlington lane, towards Sheraton Park, where she was raped in a secluded area.
Cleveland Police are appealing for any motorists in the area at the time who may have dashcam footage of from the scene.
A spokeswoman for the force said: “The man is described as being a black male in his 20s, around 6ft tall and of muscular build and he spoke with a local accent.
“He was wearing tight black jeans which were ripped at the knees and a dark coloured top and baseball cap.”
She added: “Specialist officers are currently providing the victim and her family with support.”
