ONE person has been arrested following reports of a man brandishing a weapon in a residential street.
Police officers were called to Kirkstone Place, in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, at about 9.30am on Monday morning after receiving calls about a man brandishing a weapon outside one of the properties.
At least six police cars and two vans descended on the street.
A Durham Constabulary spokeswoman confirmed a man had been arrested for public order and was currently in custody.
A witness said she was shocked when the police descended on the street.
She said: “There were at least six police cars and two vans arrived and there just seemed to be people running around in their pyjamas.
“It looked like the police were actively looking for someone.”
