THE BOOTS store in Redcar had to close on Saturday, February 2 after a fire started underneath the pavement outside.
At around 10.30am, the fire brigade attended to reports of a fire outside the store on the high street.
Power was turned off to the store, and the fire was reportedly the result of an electrical fault under the pavement.
Bystander, Leon Perry of Redcar said: “The firemen were just waiting on the electricity board to turn the power off so they could put the flames out.
"The fireman said it was probably shorted out due to water getting in.”
The fire was extinguished and the store resumed trading shortly after.
