LOCAL Alzheimer sufferers are to benefit from a £500 donation made by the North Yorkshire County Show.
The annual show, which celebrates its 30th anniversary next year, made the money from this year's event.
Dave Fielding, show secretary, said: "It would be good to help a worthwhile cause like this one.
"The fair is a non-profit-making organisation, so anything we make we always give to somebody."
The show gave the funds to the Hambleton and Richmondshire Alzheimers Society, in Thirsk.
Susan Broster, branch care services manager for the Hambleton and Richmondshire Alzheimers Society, took the cheque.
She said: "It is tremendous and we really appreciate this. It will go towards the work of the society for work with local people with dementia."
