musicians from Durham Police are helping a charity raise funds.

The Durham Constabulary Brass Band will perform at Elvet Methodist Church, Durham City, on Saturday, October 13, at 7.30pm.

The idea for the concert, in aid of the County Durham Society for the Blind and Partially Sighted, came from 81-year-old Harry Henson, a retired policeman who is one of the society's trustees.

Mr Henson, who served as a beat officer in County Durham for 30 years, said: "The band is always keen to get involved with good causes."

The charity is also looking for fundraisers to empty collection boxes in their area or community groups who would like to hold fundraising events.
